Lulu’s Barkin’ BBQ Raises Nearly $800,000 for Homeless Pets

Generous local and out-of-town guests donated nearly $800,000 to help provide programs and services for homeless animals at the Dumb Friends League Buddy Center and the Dumb Friends League Harmony Equine Center™ at our signature summer fundraiser, Lulu’s Barkin’ BBQ, on Saturday, Aug. 15. The annual, private event is hosted by board member Jana Bartlit and her husband, Fred, in honor of their beloved dog, Lulu. In addition, 10 lucky pets found loving homes during the event, including King Louie, a 5-month-old, three-legged Cavalier King Charles spaniel, and Chip, a 4-month-old kitten.

The funds raised from this event will help provide care to thousands of homeless cats, dogs, horses and small pets this fiscal year. In addition to adopting out homeless pets and horses, the League offers other services for pets and people in the community, including lost and found, spay/neuter services, behavior training and animal welfare investigations.
