VIP Winter 2017: Jasmin’s Update

As we ring in 2017, we have hopes and dreams of a better tomorrow. But the turning of a new year also provides an opportunity to reflect on the past.

Last year, the Dumb Friends League was blessed in many ways. We had more than 1,450 amazing volunteers to assist in virtually every department, helping us enhance our programs and services for pets and people. We had dedicated employees who worked hard to further our mission, as well as wonderful donors who provided financial support to help us make dreams come true for homeless pets. The community also blessed us by utilizing our services—adopting thousands of homeless pets and horses, choosing to spay or neuter their pets and so much more.

The animals are, of course, an obvious blessing. It only takes looking into their eyes to know why we do what we do. We believe in our mission: “Working with our compassionate community, we will end pet homelessness and animal suffering.” And we remember that we always speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Each volunteer and staff member plays a vital role in all the work we do—whether you are making animals more comfortable in grooming or during their temporary stay in our kennels, teaching dogs manners in Head Start, giving cats quality time through Kitty Comfort, treating animals with needed medication, assisting in adoptions, going out into the community on our mobile units, helping with a donor mailing, mucking stalls, or fostering pets in your home.

Thank you all for your part in making a difference, one animal at a time. I wish you, your family and friends, and of course your animal family, a happy and healthy New Year!
