The Dumb Friends League has a history of service. For more than 100 years, we have sheltered and cared for lost, abandoned and abused pets. 

Thanks to wide community support, we offer programs that help both pets and people.

Volunteer Application

We are currently accepting volunteer applications for the following positions:

Kennel Technicians (Cats, Dogs or Small Mammals): Assist is cleaning, feeding and providing enrichment for the cats, dogs or small mammals in our care.

Customer Care (Adoptions counselors and Information Desks): Assist the public in finding their forever friend. Computer experience necessary.

Buddy Center: We are in need of ALL positions at our Buddy Center including kennel technicians, dog walkers and more.

Humane Education: Assist our Humane Education Department in presenting information public on animal welfare, good pet ownership and the importance of spaying and neutering.

Mobile Spay/Neuter Mobiles: Assist the technicians on the mobile spay and neuter mobiles. This position is not at the shelter, we travel throughout the metro area.

Foster Parent: We are in need of loving homes for cats and kittens who are in need of foster care in a home for 1-4 weeks.

PLEASE NOTE: We are not currently accepting applications for volunteers at the Dumb Friends League Harmony Equine.

Volunteers need to be at least 16 years of age, submit an application, complete an interview and attend 2 DFL trainings. A fee of $25 covers the volunteer uniform, background check and training supplies.
