The Dumb Friends League has a history of service. For more than 100 years, we have sheltered and cared for lost, abandoned and abused pets.

Thanks to wide community support, we offer programs that help both pets and people.

We are proud to be the metro-Denver area’s local humane society. You are invited to visit our website and our two shelters to learn more about us.

Giving Clubs

The Friendship Circle was formed in 1986 to recognize the people who, through their generous financial support, are special friends of the animals in our care.

Our goals:

  • To recognize donors who are active in their support of the Dumb Friends League's efforts to improve the welfare of companion animals.
  • To share with them our plans and aspirations.
  • To establish an exemplary pattern of annual giving.
  • To create increased interest in the welfare of animals among other potential donors.

The Dumb Friends League helps as many as 25,000 homeless pets every year. We bring valuable services to people and animals in our community, including humane education, animal welfare investigations, low-cost spay/neuter surgeries and more.

We are a private, nonprofit organization supported primarily by contributions from people like you.

Helping the animals

Through their gifts, members of our gift clubs are helping us:

  • Shelter and care for tens of thousands of lost and unwanted pets each year
  • Provide veterinary treatment and foster care for animals who are hurt or sick
  • Spay or neuter every adopted animal, preventing them from contributing to the pet over-population problem
  • Deliver humane education programs that promote respect for animals and responsible pet care
  • Provide behavior and training assistance to pet owners
  • Investigate and prosecute persons involved in animal neglect or cruelty

Give the gift of HOPE

A gift to the HOPE fund (Helping Our Pets Endowment) is a way to ensure that homeless animals will be protected and lovingly cared for in years to come.

Endowment gifts provide an endless source of support. These gifts are pooled to earn annual interest and investment income. The income can be spent for current needs while the principal remains untouched.

Here is an example: Assuming a 7 percent rate of return, an endowment gift of $50,000 would provide $3,500 every year to help animals in our care. With the principal still intact over 20 years, this gift would generate $70,000, and over 50 years, $175,000. Income from the endowment will help save the lives of thousands of homeless pets.

Helping Our Pets Endowment gifts are subject to the terms and conditions associated with this special fund. For more information or to begin giving HOPE to thousands of homeless pets, please call (303) 751-5772, Ext. 7083.
