Melannie Grimme, Director of Planned & Major Gifts
As director of planned and major gifts, Melannie Grimme is responsible for overseeing and growing the Dumb Friends League’s major gifts team and planned giving programs, both of which are instrumental to the continuation of the League’s life-changing work on behalf of homeless animals. In that role, she is also responsible for ensuring that the organization is a trustworthy and diligent steward of gifts made by major donors and those who include the League in their estate plans.
A lifelong love of animals caused Melannie to pursue a bachelor’s degree in biological science, pre-veterinary medicine at Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo, Calif. However, a college job with a nonprofit organization led to a passion for nonprofit work. She has been able to combine both interests in her 15 years working for animal welfare-related nonprofits, including positions in fundraising at Harrison Memorial Animal Hospital (now PetAid Colorado) and as annual gifts manager and planned giving manager at the League.
Melannie and her husband have two young children and a German shepherd/Airedale terrier mix named Greta.
