Oh, my. Take a gander at that adorable face. The tan splotch over Darla’s left eye gives this girl a quizzical gaze, as if she’s got one perpetually raised eyebrow. Sort of like Stephen Colbert … if he were a female dog.
Here’s what we know about Miss Darla: She weighs 38 pounds and she’s a frisky 3 years old. She’s a spayed pit bull who came to us from an overburdened shelter in Texas.
She was fearful and unsure during her first few days with us, which led our staff to think that she had most likely never lived in a home environment. We quickly enrolled her in our Canine Courage program, where she relaxed and gained some confidence.
Even with her improved confidence, Darla remains a bit shy around people. She’s especially leery of men, but she warms up to all the other dogs she meets. Additionally, she’s sweet, affectionate, gentle and easy to leash. Our dog-walking volunteers noted that she loves treats, being petted and having her ears rubbed.
Darla’s ideal home is in a breed-friendly community (in other words, not in Denver or Aurora). She wants a loving home with no kids under 10 and another social dog to pal around with.
So, are you the one kind soul who can give this cutie pie a real home to call her own? She’s got her eye on you.
Fees are waived on Darla as a member of our Muttley Crew!
