I rescued a 1-year-old mini schnauzer from the Dumb Friends League in November 2013 with my father, who wanted me to have a companion. A few weeks after I brought little Tavish home, my father died. I was 26 years old at the time and was completely destroyed by the loss. I didn’t eat, I didn’t talk to anyone and I didn’t leave the house. I didn’t even know how to function for the first few months after. All I remember from that time is crying, sleeping and holding onto Tavish. He helped me through my depression and remained a constant companion through the entire grieving process. I am so grateful to have had him during that difficult time, and now we are both doing much better! He is my little man and best friend, and I will take him for walks and car rides and give him treats and share the couch for the rest of his life. I can’t imagine life without the Tavi, and I thank DDFL for bringing him into my life when I would need him the most.
P.S. I actually rescued a second dog, so now Tavish has a little brother called Toby who is a 6-year-old rat terrier, and they are BEST FRIENDS!
