The Dumb Friends League Solutions – Cat Spay/Neuter Clinic recently celebrated a successful first year of operation. The clinic opened on January 17, 2017 with the ambitious goal of dramatically impacting pet overpopulation in Colorado, one cat at a time. After one year, more than 9,500 surgeries have been performed at Solutions, with an impressive single-day record of 82 operations.
Funded by the Dumb Friends League, along with a generous three-year grant totaling $900,000 from the Animal Assistance Foundation, PetSmart Charities and the ASPCA, the cat clinic offers no-cost spay and neuter surgeries for cats. The free service is available to any patron. Additionally, Solutions welcomes all cats whether they are owned, feral or free-roaming community cats.
“Patrons are very grateful for this service,” said Sharon Thomas, Dumb Friends League Public Spay/Neuter Manager. “Many would not be able to afford surgery or vaccines without us.”
In addition to the no-cost spay or neuter surgery, all cats who come to the clinic receive free age-appropriate vaccinations. Solutions also offers Feline leukemia (FeLV) vaccinations, FeLV/FIV combo test and microchips for reduced fees.
Solutions – Cat Spay/Neuter Clinic is located at 191 Yuma Street. Open Tuesday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., the clinic offers surgeries by appointment only, which can be scheduled by visiting ddfl.org/catclinic or by calling (303) 751-5772.
The clinic’s goal is to complete 10,000 cat spay and neuter surgeries in its second year of operation.
