Who couldn’t use a change of scenery right about now? You could continue to enjoy the view from your window or you could change your altitude and participate in the Dumb Friends League Peaks for Pets!
Go solo or team up with friends and family – in a socially distanced way, of course – when you conquer our first-ever virtual hiking challenge and explore the mountains anywhere (yes, anywhere!) during the month of September. Peaks for Pets is a little different to mix it up and keep things interesting. Participants sign up and start at “Sea level” (yes, yes, we know “sea level” doesn’t actually exist in Colorado, but just go with it) and earn incentives at the “Half a mile high” (2,640) and “Mile high” (5,280) elevation gains. Plus, there will be weekend challenges throughout the month, including “Highest altitude reached,” “Longest distance hiked” and “Most elevation gained.”
A $30 registration fee includes an event t-shirt, and earned incentives will be available during pick-up parties at local breweries. The event starts September 1, but you can register now through September 30 here. The sooner you register, the sooner you can start climbing your way up a 14er, trekking around a mountain top lake and heading out to the hills.
The Peaks for Pets challenge may be virtual, but the hikes are real . . . very real! All entry fees benefit the animals at the League. Get ready to change their lives one step at a time.
