More than 100 homeless pets being flown to Colorado from Puerto Rico

The Dumb Friends League is coordinating efforts in Colorado to find new homes for approximately 90 dogs and puppies and 18 cats being flown to the state from areas devastated by Hurricane Maria. The pets arrived in Colorado the evening of Tuesday, October 24.

Seven Colorado shelters including the Dumb Friends League, Denver Animal Protection, Aurora Animal Services, Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, Pueblo Animal Services, Larimer Humane Society and Humane Society of Boulder Valley will be accepting these homeless animals.

As with any pet, animals arriving at the Dumb Friends League from Puerto Rico will receive health and behavior assessments, be spayed or neutered and be given age-appropriate vaccinations before becoming available for adoption.

Most of the Puerto Rico dogs and puppies should be available for adoption within three to four days of arriving.
