Animal Assistance Foundation

Established by Louise Harrison in 1975 with the simple directive to “take care of the animals of Colorado,” the Animal Assistance Foundation continues to expand its impact across the state of Colorado and has focused a significant amount of effort in helping underserved areas within the state. Animal Assistance Foundation honors Louise’s legacy by building strong statewide networks, preventing animal cruelty, and seeking new and innovative ways to improve the lives of animals. Animal Assistance Foundation has supported us in several important initiatives that have positively impacted animal welfare across Colorado. Those initiatives include our community spay and neuter efforts, investigative work against the abuse and neglect of animals, shelter infrastructure to improve the environment in which we care for homeless animals and most recently, our work to increase access to animal welfare resources in rural Colorado.

ASPCA

For many years, the ASPCA has provided animal welfare grants to organizations across the nation—responding quickly to emergencies where financial assistance is needed most, and carefully matching resources with needs across the country. ASPCA’s funding priorities are focused on saving more lives through animal shelter and rescue grants; the prevention of and response to cruelty toward animals, protection of equines; and emergency funding to animal welfare organizations in communities that have suffered the impact of natural and other disasters. ASPCA has compassionately partnered with us to support the care of homeless horses at our Harmony Equine Center, community spay and neuter efforts, increased animal welfare resources in rural Colorado, shelter infrastructure improvements, as well as our fight against abuse and neglect of animals through Colorado Humane Society, a program of the Dumb Friends League.

PetSmart Charities

PetSmart Charities is proud to be the leading funder of animal welfare in North America. Since 1994, PetSmart Charities has granted more than $400 million to organizations that strengthen communities through pets—supporting companion animal programs that help enrich lives through the human-animal bond. PetSmart Charities has supported several of our programs that have increased adoptions, community access to affordable veterinary care and our capacity to significantly impact cat overpopulation in the Denver metropolitan area.

Vera and Joseph Dresner Foundation

Dedicated to transforming lives in positive ways through grants focused on health, youth and family and animal welfare, the Vera and Joseph Dresner Foundation works with organizations to create opportunity, impact communities and promote wellbeing. The Vera and Joseph Dresner Foundation is making a profound impact at the Dumb Friends League through their support of the Building A Better Way Home behavior area renovation and construction project. The new space will enable our behavior team to provide optimum care and the greatest number of new beginnings and second chances for homeless animals that need additional behavior support to put their best paw forward.
