The Dumb Friends League San Luis Valley Animal Center offers adoptions, shelter for homeless dogs and cats and lost and found services.  The facility also offers a spay/neuter program for community owned dogs and cats.

Adoption Process

We are offering same day in-person adoptions at the San Luis Valley Animal Center. On the day you’re interested in adopting, visit our shelter between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Upon arrival, please park in the main lot, stay in your car with your pet, and call 719.212.6500.

Pet Admissions

As a partner with the city of Alamosa and Alamosa County, the San Luis Valley Animal Center in Alamosa takes in and houses lost cats and dogs.

Upon arrival, please park in the main lot, stay in your car with your pet, and call 719.212.6500. Our San Luis Valley team is available for pet surrenders 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week.

Community Resources

Colorado Pet Pantry – If you need help providing food for your pet, please visit https://www.coloradopetpantry.org/ and fill out the application. The pet food pantry takes place on the last Monday of every month. Recipients must provide proof of address and proof their pet(s) have been spayed or neutered. We are able to help feed up to four pets.
