In early 2020, Millie was seriously injured after being electrocuted and falling down a flight of stairs. The bouncy goldendoodle puppy had chewed through an electrical cord, causing burn wounds near her eyes and mouth. Unable to manage the costs of Millie’s treatment, her family made the difficult decision to relinquish her to the Dumb Friends League.
Once in our care, League veterinarians determined Millie was also suffering from fractures in her ribs, pelvis, and femoral neck bone near her left hip joint – an injury that required surgery. During her recovery, Millie stayed with Judy, one of our dedicated veterinary technicians and foster volunteers. In a stroke of serendipitous luck, Judy’s neighbor, Jennifer, was in the process of looking to adopt a new dog. When Judy introduced the two, it was love at first sight.
Today, Millie is happy and healthy in her new home. She spends her time playing with Jennifer’s young daughter, slurping pup cups, and lovingly invading the personal space of everyone she meets. According to Jennifer,
Millie is just amazing. She does so much for us, and we want to give back to her in return.
