What inspired you to volunteer at the League?
I have always liked the DFL. I adopted two fur babies as puppies from there a lab mix named Shilah and a rat terrier mix named Macy. When Shilah passed away, I said I would never adopt another dog and thought volunteering would be the next best thing. I was looking for something totally opposite from my day job. I originally wanted to be a copywriter and write the cute descriptions of the animals on the website, but there were no volunteer spots available. My animal care position has turned out to be a great fit.
What’s one of the most important/surprising things you’ve learned volunteering OR what’s the funniest thing that has happened while volunteering?
I am surprised at the number of animals the shelter houses! Just when I thought I had seen all areas, I was assigned to the lower level dog kennels and discovered more babies to visit.

What do you do when you’re not volunteering at the League?
I work in the technology department for Denver Public Schools.

The staff and other volunteers are always willing to help and make me feel supported. It’s a great environment to spend time every week.
