The Dumb Friends League is entirely community-supported. It is through our partners’ trust in our work that it is possible for us to care for, rehabilitate and place more than 20,000 cats, dogs, horses and other pets each year. Our work reflects not just our own commitment to pets and the community, but that of our partners as well.
When we work together, it benefits all of us and most importantly, the animals and people that urgently need help.
The impact of your generosity will be felt. By partnering with the League, you will:
- Aid in the sustainability of essential services and programs that have long-term positive change for animals and humans in need.
- Ensure that every animal that comes through our shelters has access to the best possible care.
- Touch the lives of thousands of pets and countless more community members caring for those pets that bring companionship and unparalleled joy to their lives.

For many years, the ASPCA has provided animal welfare grants to organizations across the nation. Most recently, the ASPCA has supported the Dumb Friends League San Luis Valley Animal Center, which will provide care for lost, stray, abandoned and unwanted pets in an area where these services are desperately needed.
Banfield Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, believes that all pets deserve access to veterinary care. In support of this belief, the Foundation has funded the Dumb Friends League’s Community Veterinary Services which increases access to affordable veterinary care for owned pets, helping to preserve the human-animal bond and ensuring that animals are able to access life-saving care. We are incredibly thankful for the support of the Banfield Foundation, who is committed to making a better world for pets because they make a better world for us.
The Bates Foundation & Trust’s commitment to improving the lives of others and enhancing communities is crucial to helping organizations like the Dumb Friends League make a meaningful impact.
Funding from the Bates Foundation & Trust has helped pets with serious medical conditions that require specialized treatment, fearful animals that need a little more time and attention through our behavior programs, as well as horses who come to the Dumb Friends League Harmony Equine Center from abuse and neglect situations and need rehabilitation and training.
Donors like the Bates Foundation & Trust make a big difference to the vulnerable pets and horses that come to us in need of warm shelter, medical treatment and gentle training so they can find loving homes with caring owners. Thank you, Bates Foundation & Trust for helping provide the resources to give pets opportunities for health and happiness.

The Dumb Friends League is a proud recipient of funding from Maddie’s Fund®, #ThanksToMaddie.
Maddie’s Fund® is a family foundation established in 1994 by Dave and Cheryl Duffield and is the fulfillment of a promise to an inspirational dog, Maddie. She provided them much joy from 1987 – 1997 and continues to inspire them today.
The Foundation has awarded over $265 million in grants toward increased community lifesaving, pioneering shelter medicine education and establishing foster care as a standard across the U.S.
Maddie’s Fund proudly offers the industry a national voice, important funding opportunities for bold ideas, learning resources and access to collaborate and share innovative solutions. The Foundation invests its resources in a commitment to keeping pets and people together, creating a safety net of care for animals in need and operating within a culture of inclusiveness and humility. #ThanksToMaddie.
At the Dumb Friends League, we have the opportunity to see firsthand how pets can bring value to the community—offering camaraderie, supporting mental and physical health and wellness and teaching lessons of compassion and empathy. In this spirit, we proudly operate one of the oldest shelter-based education programs in the country. Our Humane Education department has provided unique, curriculum-based learning opportunities for adults and children in the Denver Metro Area for more than 45 years. Support from Noah’s Ark Foundation ensures that these programs can be offered at little to no cost throughout our community.
Noah’s Ark Foundation has a strong commitment to giving back to our community. The Foundation promotes and supports educating humans to help better the lives of pets and animals. We thank Noah’s Ark Foundation for helping to make our community a safe, kind and compassionate place to live for pets, horses and people.
Petco Love is a national nonprofit leading change for pets by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since its founding in 1999, Petco Love has invested $300 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts.
PetSmart Charities has supported several Dumb Friends League programs that have increased adoptions, community access to affordable veterinary care and our capacity to significantly impact cat overpopulation in the Denver metropolitan area. Most recently PetSmart Charities has helped keep pets in homes when their owners may not otherwise be able to afford treatment by supporting subsidized care at the Dumb Friends League Solutions – Veterinary Hospital.
